We Built the Villa We Always Wanted.

Then we decided to share it.

How It Started

We've lived in Bali since 2012

We're Yulia and Dan — a husband-and-wife team with 12 years of experience working remotely and travelling. We've stayed in a lot of villas in Ubud. Beautiful places, usually — but almost always with the same problems.

Hot water that runs out after two minutes. Electricity that can't handle a laptop, phone, and AC at the same time. Blackouts. Floods. Bad smells from the drains. Insects everywhere. Poor lighting. No proper workspace.

We kept thinking: why doesn't someone just fix all of this? Eventually we realised we'd have to do it ourselves.

Designed From Experience

What We Fixed

Hubuddha was designed around everything we wished other villas had. We spent a lot of time explaining to contractors why these things matter. It wasn't always easy — but we're proud to say we got it right.

Hot water that lasts — with real pressure
Electrical systems that handle real load — no blackouts
High-speed WiFi that actually works
A proper home office in every villa
Projector for movie nights
USB-C and charging ports throughout
Fully equipped kitchen — oven, dishwasher, mixer & every utensil
Spacious private garden, not a token patch of grass
No mold — properly ventilated throughout
No leaks — sealed and waterproofed properly

Our Home

Why Ubud

We've lived all over Bali, but Ubud is where we kept coming back. It's calm. Green. Surrounded by rice fields and jungle, but still close to everything — cafés, restaurants, yoga studios, day trips to anywhere on the island. It's also where we started our family. Our son loves it here. The area is safe, welcoming, and genuinely nice to live in — not just visit.

The Concept

Why Three Connected Villas

From the start, we wanted Hubuddha to work for groups and retreats — not just solo travellers or couples. We have a lot of entrepreneur friends, and we'd seen retreat spaces in Bali before. Most of them have one big problem: shared beds. Nobody wants that.

So we built three separate villas that connect through shared gardens. Everyone gets their own space — private bedroom, private pool — but you can gather together when you want.

The People Behind It

Who We Are

Yulia, co-founder of Hubuddha Villas

Yulia

Hubuddha was her idea — and she'll be the first to say it turned out exactly as she imagined. Behind every thoughtful detail that most villas overlook, that's Yulia. Her love of travel brought her to Bali in the first place — and never really let her leave.

Dan, co-founder of Hubuddha Villas

Dan

Yulia brought him to Bali; they got “stranded” during the pandemic and decided to stay. During construction he was on site every day, making sure every detail met the quality standard you'd expect back home in Europe — not what's considered “good enough” locally.

Family-First Design

We Started Our Family Here

Ubud is where we started our family — and it shows in how we designed the villas. Walled gardens, enclosed spaces, no busy roads, private pools. Our son loves it here.

Hubuddha opened in April 2025, so we're still new. But every guest so far has told us the same thing: it feels like a hidden gem. They're surprised by how well everything works, how thoughtful the details are, and how peaceful the setting is.

Many have already booked their next stay.

I've stayed in a lot of villas in Bali. This is the first one where absolutely nothing was broken, missing, or half-finished.

Small Things We Do

We're not an eco-resort, but we try to be intentional. It's not perfect — but it's deliberate.

Come Stay With Us

We Built This Place for Ourselves First.

Somewhere modern, comfortable, and connected to nature. Somewhere that doesn't cut corners. Somewhere we could host our family, our friends — and eventually, you.

Welcome to Hubuddha. — Yulia & Dan
